“CHARMS” by Leon Gurvich. Premiere in Berlin

“CHARMS” – comic chamber opera in Berlin based on the “Erotic Poems” by Daniil Kharms (1905–1942)

“No prophet without vice…”

Daniil Kharms – master of the grotesque, poet of the absurd. His texts skillfully balance between humor and tragedy, lightness and abyss.

Inspired by this unique mixture, the renowned composer and pianist Leon Gurvich created in the summer of 2013 in Hamburg a score for voice, actor, piano, violin, clarinet and saxophone, transforming Kharms’ unusual world into music.

Together with Leon Gurvich and his ensemble on stage – the brilliant and charismatic singer and actress Svetlana Mamresheva (Kirill Serebrennikov & Friends / Thalia Theater Hamburg).
