New one-man show “There Is No Such Name”. Master of ceremonies Stas Florentsev in Germany
Radio host, showman, actor and professional master of ceremonies Stas Florentsev is bringing his new one-man show “There Is No Such Name” to Germany. Florentsev is well known not only for his original programs on Riga radio, but also for his vibrant stage shows, defined by subtle humor, direct interaction with the audience and his ability to turn any story into a miniature theatrical performance.
People recognize him by his voice. His creative background includes more than 18 years on major Latvian radio, work for stations in the USA and New Zealand, and roles in international film projects. Viewers may remember his striking cameo appearances in the films “Faster Than Rabbits” and “Grandma of Easy Virtue 2: The Elderly Avengers”.
In the one-man performance “There Is No Such Name”, Florentsev addresses topics entirely different from those in his earlier entertainment shows. He walks the emotional edge: from joy and euphoria through melancholy and anxiety toward inner calm.
“There Is No Such Name” is an interactive performance in which the artist shares stories both humorous and tragic — stories lived personally and stories shared by an entire country. Florentsev calls his show a stand-up tragedy. In truth, it is stand-up blended with storytelling, a reflective performance that reaches beyond genre boundaries. Beneath the jokes lies depth: the show makes audiences laugh, but also think, empathize and feel nostalgia. After all, we all have — in our own ways but remarkably similarly — ideas about what is good and bad, what brings joy or sadness, and what truly matters.
