Extraordinary journey: Airbus A310 from Hanover heads to Serengeti Park

14.10.2025 20564

An unusual engineering operation is underway in Hanover: a decommissioned Airbus A310, which has stood for years at Hanover Airport, will soon be transported to Serengeti Park Hodenhagen. There, the aircraft will become the centerpiece of a new outdoor exhibition.

The massive plane, weighing more than 80 tons, will be moved on a 60-meter multi-axle platform. The route includes temporary closures of Highway B214 and several regional roads in Lower Saxony.

The convoy will travel mostly at night to reduce disruption for local residents and drivers, with the journey expected to take about two days.

In Serengeti Park, the Airbus will be transformed into an educational attraction dedicated to aviation, sustainability, and travel. Visitors will be able to explore the cockpit, learn about the history of flight, and try a virtual take-off simulator.

“This is a symbol of harmony between technology and nature,” said park representatives. “An aircraft that once crossed the skies will now find its home among animals and innovation.”

The project has already sparked widespread interest and is expected to become one of northern Germany’s most popular attractions.
