The screenings will take place at BALi Cinema, the Fridericianum Museum, and the Kassel University of Arts. Since its founding in 1982, the festival has become a creative hub for independent and emerging documentary filmmakers whose work challenges traditional storytelling.
This year’s program features over 300 films, video installations, and multimedia projects from Germany, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Key themes include memory, social identity, and the digital age.
Beyond the screenings, visitors can enjoy workshops, panel discussions, and the DokfestLab exhibition, showcasing VR and interactive projects.
The festival’s mission is to foster free dialogue between art and society. Many of the works shown in Kassel later appear at major international events such as the Berlinale and IDFA.
Organizers emphasize that Kassel Dokfest remains a space where documentary film is seen not as a report of reality, but as an art form that can redefine how we see the world.
